Activity Overview
The overall goal of this activity is to provide learners with evidence-based and innovative strategies for the care of patients with heart failure and cardiomyopathies, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular disease states like endocarditis and tricuspid regurgitation.
Target Audience
- Cardiovascular Physicians - Adult, Pediatric, Surgeons
- Cardiovascular Sub-specialists - ACHD, EP, HF, Interventional
- Cardiology Fellows-In-Training - Adult, Pediatric, Advanced
- Nurses and Clinical Nurse Specialists
- Nurse Practitioners
- Physician Assistants

- CV Clinicians including but not limited to dieticians, rehab specialists, sonographers, and cath lab technicians
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify and implement strategies for cardiovascular surgical risk assessment.
- Identify novel, non-statin, hyperlipidemic, therapies and understand practical implementation.
- Identify hypertension in peripartum patients and identify management strategies.
- Explain the latest research on non-traditional risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as genetics, inflammation, and environmental factors.
- Assess the results and implications of recent clinical trials in cardiology, including their impact on guidelines and patient care.
- Promote active participation by the audience encouraging questions, comments, and participation in debates to enhance learning and understanding.
- Develop critical thinking skills by participating in structured debates and analyzing evidence to make informed decisions on controversial topics.
- Describe thrombotic cascade and the effects of each component on atherosclerosis.
- Compare the various antithrombotic therapies including mechanism of action and pharmacokinetics of antiplatelets and anticoagulants.
- Evaluate clinical trial outcomes for various antithrombotic therapies for the treatment of coronary and peripheral atherosclerosis.
- Identify the surgical indications in the treatment of valvular endocarditis.
- Identify indications for catheter-based extraction in endocarditis.
- Identify the major components of the cardiovascular system.
- Discuss strategies for preventing cardiovascular diseases.
Statement of Need
In the face of rapidly changing patterns of care, the cardiovascular team requires ongoing updates in the latest science and practice guidelines for delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.
Overall Goal
