ABOUT

Mission Statement
The purpose of the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Cardiology is to contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, to ensure optimal quality of care for individuals with such diseases, and to foster the highest professional ethical standards. The Chapter is the voice of cardiology in Michigan, providing input to policy makers in the legislature, state government, professional organizations and third party payers.

The Value of Membership
ACC is our professional home, representing 85% of practicing cardiologists as well as the entire cardiac care team. The ACC represents us in all aspects of our practice - providing up to date clinical resources, leading the transformation of care, advocating for our interests locally and nationally, and aggregating data for practice improvement. Furthermore, the ”FACC” is still the badge of quality for practicing cardiologists.

ACC provides evidence-based practice guidelines, unparalleled educational resources, and invaluable clinical data. ACC registries help guide appropriateness criteria; and ACC advocacy drives reform. Two cases in point:

  • SGR has finally been repealed.
  • ABIM’s Part IV MOC requirements have been put on hold.

ACC’s Member Sections provide specialty-specific, member-centric forums for professional engagement? Member Sections include:

  • Women in Cardiology Section
  • Interventional Section
  • Adult Congenital
  • Academic Cardiologists
  • Federal Cardiologists
  • And many more

The Michigan Chapter is one of the strongest chapters nationwide; our annual conference offers a weekend of engaging, educational opportunities for members to congregate and share cutting edge research and best practices, as well as an opportunity to personally connect with colleagues from around the state. Michigan ACC truly is our professional home
